I've got skills

No, she's not sick. She just gagged on a banana.

Our daughter Allison

has Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that has no cure (yet). Rett Syndrome impacts almost every part of our lives and affects approximately 1 in 20,000 females.

Rett Sydrome as been described as the most physically disabling of the autism spectrum disorders. Our daughter, like others with Rett, can not speak. In some ways, this lack of communication is often her biggest disability. Many girls with also Rett can not use their hands, walk, are plagued by seizures and have digestive, cardiac, and orthopedic issues.

In this blog we hope to share our experience with Rett Syndrome- the good and the bad. Our hope is that one day Rett Syndrome will be cured. In the meantime we will continue to focus on the good things- our silver lining.
